Percutaneous Vertebroplasty and Whole-Body Examination (December 14-27, 2016)
I would like to share our story about our stay in South Korea and the work of Nataliia Pak from G’Line Medical Agency in Seoul. A month ago, we faced a problem when my grandma Emilia broke her spine. She was treated in Almaty hospital, but with no success, and so we decided to seek help from specialists in South Korea. By then, we had already heard a lot about Korean medicine and Nataliia from Seoul. We immediately wrote to Nataliia Pak. She did become our liaison between us and the clinic. But to be honest, we didn’t even expect such a fast reply. She responded to our questions so promptly.
So, what happened next? Next, after all matters were settled, we flew to South Korea. I was really scared of not knowing the language, but I felt reassured when Nataliia met us. From the very meeting at the airport, we instantly found an atmosphere of comfort and coziness. When we arrived at the hospital, we were immediately caught up in the thick of things. My grandma had an enormous variety of examinations as soon as we entered the clinic with no waiting time. As for the examinations, I can say that I was not only surprised, but completely struck with amazement. After my grandma had been examined from head to toe, we went back to the doctor's office. Our doctor had already all my grandma’s test results listed on the computer screen before two hours had elapsed. MRI and CT images, and all blood test results were ready within two hours. Similar examinations in Almaty would have taken a week for sure. We were also introduced to our interpreter, whom we later bombarded with all questions we had. On Day 2, my grandma was operated on, and by the evening my grandma was able to get out of bed on her own, which had been all but impossible before. We were astonished at how soon we could see the outcome of surgery.
We felt right at home during our stay there. About an hour after the surgery, the representatives from the clinic came to see us and brought us a huge fruit basket, and then Nataliia came straight over with some goodies. The clinic staff tried their hardest to make us feel at home. I want to say a special thanks to our interpreter Zhenya, who held our hand everywhere we went. I owe a great many thanks to our doctor, Aleksandr Kim, who got my grandma back on her feet. My grandma received the highest quality post-operative aftercare. The surgery went well; Grandma feels good and is in high spirits, and we are leaving tomorrow. We’re leaving with a sense of pride and gratitude to the Korean people and high-tech medicine!
